The P32AC-DM, is the Genesis II. It was designed to replace the EMD FL-9 .

They used the same basic car body as the original Genesis locomotives (the 800 series). The P32AC-DM has a 12 cylinder 3,200 hp engine and AC traction motors The engines operate in diesel and third rail electric modes.

Because of the AC technology, the P32AC-DM has a higher tractive effort . Top speed is also higher (110 vs. 103 mph).

The first ten (700-709) built 1995 by GE weigh 254,000 lbs.

The second group entered service in March 1998.
