CONRAIL CABOOSE PHOTO ARCHIVE

The ex-NYC N7B Class

There were 100 of this class built by the NYC Despatch Shops in starting in 1963 as Lot 919 numbered 21000-21099. The N7B designation was not given until Penn Central merged the NYC cabooses into the PRR classification system

The NYC numbers were retained through the successive PC and CR ownership (although CR inherited only 88 of these cars).

The N7B was 37'9" over strikers; with 30' of interior space.
